How does the booking and dispatch system work for drivers?

We use a fully integrated, live automated dispatch framework powered by the Trident Taxis Driver App. When a customer requests a quote and books a UK-to-UK journey or airport transfer on our website, the system calculates the fixed fare and pushes the job instantly to the nearest available driver's mobile device based on live GPS proximity. There are no manual controller backlogs or delays.

Can any UK-licensed driver join the network?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Unlike rigid, city-restricted platforms (such as the closed London-only systems), we operate an open-border nationwide network. If you hold a valid Private Hire or Hackney Carriage driver licence from any local licensing authority in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you are eligible to onboard and receive fares through our platform. Northern Ireland drivers and operators are regulated by the Department for Infrastructure (DfI), so a current DfI taxi driver's licence and, for operators, a valid DfI taxi operator's licence are required.

What are the Northern Ireland driver and operator requirements?

Northern Ireland has its own taxi and private-hire licensing framework. To carry or dispatch Northern Ireland fares you must hold a current Department for Infrastructure (DfI) taxi driver's licence; driver operators must also hold a current DfI taxi operator's licence, and the vehicle must hold a current DfI taxi or private-hire vehicle licence. Cross-border journeys from mainland Great Britain to Northern Ireland are dispatched as pre-booked private hire using a Northern-Ireland-licensed operator and vehicle, so a GB-only licence does not authorise you to ply for hire or accept unbooked pick-ups in Northern Ireland.

What types of vehicles do you accept into the fleet?

We actively onboard independent owner-operators and fleet partners with well-maintained, modern vehicles across three categories: Saloons / Estates (1–4 passengers) for everyday standard and business long-distance transfers; Executive & Luxury Vehicles for premium corporate runs and custom day tours; and MPVs & Multi-Seating Vehicles (5–8 passengers), including Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs), which qualify for a +50% fare modifier on our pricing matrix.

Are there passenger capacity differences based on location?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For insurance and local licensing compliance, our strict local bookings within the immediate Helensburgh and Lomond council area are capped at a maximum of 8 passengers. For all other regional and long-distance mainland UK hires, our vehicles can accommodate groups up to 8 passengers.

How are the fares calculated, and are they fixed?

All fares dispatched through our network are strictly fixed-rate quotes calculated upfront using postal code distances. Your earnings are locked in before the wheels turn, protecting both you and the passenger from meter disputes caused by heavy traffic, roadworks, or peak-time surge pricing.

Our open network covers a diverse range of high-value work across mainland Britain: pre-booked, fixed-fare airport transfers to major hubs like Glasgow (GLA), Edinburgh (EDI) and Prestwick (PIK), plus long-distance drops to English airports; cross-country, point-to-point UK city routes (e.g. Scotland to London or northern English hubs); and specialist bookings including Highland day tours, corporate chauffeuring, wedding and funeral transfers, and film/TV crew logistics.

How do I register and activate my driver account?

Accepted Answer

Onboarding is entirely online. Navigate to our driver portal and upload copies of your DVLA driving licence, local authority taxi/private hire badge, and valid private hire vehicle insurance. Once our compliance team approves your documents, you will receive activation credentials to download and log into the live Trident Taxis Driver App. Set your availability to live, view incoming distance fares, and start earning straight away.
